Ronald McDonald and OKC Mayor Mick Cornett were there to cut the ribbon for the grand opening April 2, 2009.
Anna's door was painted by Lisa Quishenberry. Notice the little caterpillar on top on the door handle. The little robin was painted in memory of Lisa's sister, Robin.Anna's Room was decorated by Laura Johnson and her son Peyton. Peyton is a pediatric cancer survivor. This room was a way for them to "give back" to the hospital. She pulled many "all-nighters" to get everything just perfect.
These are the hooks that were painted by Will, Audra, and Jacob. The little plaque says that this room was provided by friends and family of Anna Salamy. Thank you to everyone who made this possible!
This is a print of Anna's butterfly painting. It was donated by Pat at Image Arts in Edmond. It's hanging in the bathroom. The little suitcase and butterfly net were gifts from her friend Ms Kay.
The colors are very soft and don't show up well on the computer. This wall says, "May the God of hope fill you with joy and peace as you trust in Him." The fresh flowers were gifts from Laura and Peyton. They are "Anna" roses ordered special for this occasion.
Laura used a picket fence to cover some hospital plugs on the wall behind the bed. Notice the cutout butterflies on the lampshade.
Here is the bookshelf with the books that people donated. They each have a sticker on them that says, "This book belongs to Anna's Room. Please return to the 6th floor Ronald McDonald Family Room." The portrait of Anna hangs in our dining room. It was just there for the open house.
Laura made matching slipcovers for the chair and pillow. She also did the BEAUTIFUL drapes. It's hard to tell from the picture, but they are two layers with a green taffeta underneath and a sheer blue on top.
Anna's grandparents and Aunt Shonda from Wichita came down for the celebration. Here they are enjoying lunch donated by Johnny Carinos. The mural is on the wall in front of the Family Room entrance.
